InnoCaption cannot be used when the teacher and the student are in the same classroom together. We are a certified telecommunications relay services (TRS) provider, which means we receive reimbursement from a federal fund reserved for people who need accommodations to communicate by telephone, smartphone, or videophone. It is against the law to use the service as a substitute for hiring an in-person captioner to provide access.
For classroom captions, we recommend requesting your school to contract directly with a Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) provider. There are many benefits to contracting with a CART provider ahead of time as the provider will be able to review materials, understand the context, and ensure they have any specific lesson terminology and proper nouns already in their system. Ultimately this will provide the best captioning for your students and the provider should be able to provide a link so multiple students are able to access them in real-time.
