How to allow calls from Favorites in Do Not Disturb mode

Updated over a week ago

The Do Not Disturb (DND) feature on your phone allows you to block all incoming calls and notifications during specific times. However, if you want to ensure that you still receive calls from your most important contacts, you can allow calls from your Favorites while DND is active. Follow the steps below for iOS and Android to set this up.

To allow calls from Favorites in DND mode on iPhone

  1. From your phone's home screen, open the Settings app

  2. Scroll down and tap Focus

  3. Tap Do Not Disturb

  4. Tap People

  5. Select Allow Notifications From

  6. Under Allow Calls From, select Favorites

Note: This ensures that calls from contacts marked as favorites will still come through, even if DND is active

  7. Go back to your phone's home screen and open the Phone app

  8. Tap Contacts

  9. Select the contact you want to add, then tap Add to Favorites

  6. Select Starred to ensure calls from your favorite contacts will bypass DND

  7. Go back to the Settings app main page

  8. Tap Apps

  9. Tap Special app access

  10. Tap Do Not Disturb access

  11. Tap InnoCaption

  12. Tap the toggle next to Allow Do Not Disturb to turn it ON

  13. Tap Allow to confirm

  14. Go back to your phone's home screen and open the Contacts app

  15. Tap the contact you want to add, and then tap the Star icon to mark them as a favorite

Note: Because Android settings vary depending on the manufacturer and device model, the steps may be slightly different on your device.
