Verifying confirms that the cell phone number on your account really belongs to you. Once it is verified, you can keep using your own cell phone number as the caller ID that the people you call will see on their screen.
Why is cell phone number verification required?
Caller ID spoofing happens when scammers disguise their phone number to make calls appear as though they are coming from someone else, such as a bank, government agency, or trusted contact.
To help prevent this, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has introduced new call authentication requirements that help telephone carriers verify caller identity.
As part of these industry-wide efforts, InnoCaption is strengthening its caller ID verification requirements. Verifying your cell phone number confirms that you control the number and helps prevent unauthorized use.
For more information, visit the FCC's Call Authentication page.
Why does the verification text message come from Twilio?
Twilio is InnoCaption's trusted telephone and SMS carrier and has helped connect InnoCaption calls to the regular phone network for years.
Because Twilio carries your outgoing calls, it must confirm that you control your personal cell phone number before allowing it to appear as your caller ID.
Twilio sends a text message containing a six-digit verification code on InnoCaption's behalf. It is safe to enter this code directly into the InnoCaption app as part of the verification process.
What happens if I don't verify my cell phone number?
You can still make and receive calls through InnoCaption. Verification only affects your ability to use your personal cell phone number as your outbound caller ID.
Before November 1, 2026: Your caller ID settings will continue working as usual.
Starting November 1, 2026: If your number remains unverified, outgoing calls will display your InnoCaption number instead. The "Your cell number" option in Settings will be unavailable until you verify.
You can verify your cell phone number at any time to restore the option to use it as your outbound caller ID. If you have changed your cell phone number and need to update your InnoCaption account, please reach out to our Support team.
Please note: A yellow verification reminder will continue to appear in the app until you complete verification, even if you prefer using your InnoCaption number as your caller ID. Verification is not required to continue making and receiving calls with your InnoCaption number.
